17th May – 🙌 Tastings Are Back With a Bang! + Fresh Momento, New de Moor 👀

G'day!

Christ, the sun's got some bite! Finally. Proper shorts, tee and thongs weather. Can I say thongs? Too late. Speaking of warm weather, have you ever been to South Africa? Me neither. Fortunately South Africa is coming to me, and it can come to you too, via me. More on that below.

I'll start with the end. A couple of 2020 arrivals from Alice and Olivier de Moor have graced us with their presence this morning, most likely to be gone by tonight. Ultra limited quantities, grab a bottle here.

Ok, now onto the main course...

It's a double serve of Momento today. I took a month off the tasting schedule for a bit of R'n'R and we're back in a big way this June. Pumped to have Marelise Niemann joining us, so that I can take a back seat for the night. Be warned though, this isn't like 99% of those other winemaker hosted events you've been bored at. Marelise has chat, so come prepared with some questions you need answered. Wine related or otherwise. We're here for you.

Marelise is quickly establishing herself as a bit of a Grenache Master over there in the Western Cape. Her time spent working with the likes of Eben Sadie in Priorat and Peter-Alan of Crystallum shining through. In the world of new wave South Africa, hers is the name to be scribbling down and underlining. In 5 years time we'll be fighting over allocations for these wines. Aside from her work with Grenache (Gris, Blanc and Noir), Marelise shows a deftness of touch with Chenin Blanc, Verdelho and most surprisingly Tinta Barocca that'll have you staring off into the distance questioning why you weren't already consuming her wines on the reg.
