The Dönnhoffs have had their estate in Nahe Germany since the 1750s, but it was not until 1999 that Helmut Dönnhoff put the estate firmly on the map after winning the German Winemaker of the Year. The vineyards are tended to with a demonic fervour and only the best hand-picked fruit will do. In the cellar, all the wines are fermented in old oak casks and see just a little filtration before being bottled. The wines are joyful expressions of their individual terroirs whether that's the volcanic soils of the Kupfergraben or the slatey soils of Leistenberg. Truly an iconic producer shining a light on one of Germany's most overlooked regions.
