Jura Bargains: Cédric Mottet, Ratte and Jura Value

by Fionn

A proper Jura email this one. Loads of character, loads of detail, and refreshingly little of the region's usual wallet pain.

We are always in the mood for a Jura drop, but this one had us especially fired up. New wines from Cedric Mottet, more bottles from Ratte, and a few side quests besides. What's not to like?

Cedric Mottet Is Ridiculous Value

Let's start with Cedric Mottet, because honestly, the value here is kind of nuts for Jura. The Chardonnay run is stacked: Cul de Brey, Les Nouvelles, and Terres Gris all bring something slightly different to the table, but every one of them tastes far more expensive than it is.

The Savagnins are where things get really fun. La Pierre and La Grappa have all the spice, shape and weird little thrills you want from the grape, while the maceration goes full tropical-tea mode in the best way.

There are also a couple of easier-going blends in the lineup, which is handy if you want in on the action without going straight to the deep end.

Then More Ratte, Because Life Is Good

As if that wasn't enough, we also had a top-up from the Ratte family. There is a proper Jura aperitif in there, an almost-Vin de Paille sweetie, and enough style variation to keep both the seasoned cork dorks and the newer drinkers very happy.

We rounded things off with some Yves Roy for anyone who wanted the Jura-adjacent mood without committing to a full bottle. Fair enough.

Shop The Drop

Jura is rarely cheap, rarely boring, and rarely this generous all at once. If you've been meaning to dive deeper, this is a very convincing excuse.
