JOIN THE CULT šŸ‘½

by Megan Jones

Whatā€™s up winos, your weekly installment of me, coming in hot!

How u been? U good? Iā€™ve been better, as has my boiler. Spent all day Sunday fixing (read: watching someone else fix) that flighty little minx. Fingers crossed my landlord is gonna hit me back for that one, otherwise Iā€™ll be drinking wine from a box for the rest of the year.

Assuming your boiler is in good nick, youā€™ve probably got plenty of spare cash to splash around. Just as well, coz Iā€™ve got some bangers for you today. First up: Si Tu Sais. Patrick and Sara are actually British ex-pats living the dream in Burgundy (how does one achieve this? Send tips plz) with their micro-negoce project, sourcing only the best fruit from only the most trusted growers before vinifying it in their own inimitable way in their cellar in Chamilly. The house style here is crisp, acid-driven and lifted. Have you ever seen a more beautiful collection of words? No, you havenā€™t. Quantities are predictably tiny, so donā€™t be sleeping on these. Get around themĀ here.

Moving in a westerly direction now, a juicy little top up from the king of Sauvignon Blanc, the one and onlyĀ Dagueneau. CuveeĀ SilexĀ from 2016 this time, which weā€™ve kindly pre-aged for you. Donā€™t mention it, seriously. A newbie too from Roagna, who need no introduction - the humbly labelled (and priced) 2015 ā€˜Langhe Rossoā€™, practically a misnomer when you consider the fruit came from top sites in Barolo and Barbaresco. I <3 technicalities. Ā

Now onto the very topical region of Beaujolais. New arrivals from Yann Bertrand, who was mentored by Jules Chauvetā€™s right hand man. Three degrees of separation, perhaps, but still, canā€™t argue with that. Thereā€™s a spicy Julienas, a fragrant Fleurie and a wild Beauj-Villages. Theyā€™re fun, theyā€™re flirty, theyā€™re rightĀ here. Also fun and flirty,Ā this Fleurie from Chapel. High acid and earthy, this is gonna be your go-to Bojo, trust me. If you just canā€™t get enough (just canā€™t get enough) then snap up one of the finalĀ ticketsĀ to our Beaujolais bash on Thursday. If you miss your chance then I mighttttt let you in on the door if you ask nicely and bring me a present.

Bored of Beaujolais? You know what they say, bored of Beaujolais, bored of life. Or something. If you are, tho, tryĀ thisĀ Cinsault Carignan juice bomb. Chill it down and watch it disappear. While weā€™re in the Rhone, why not make a pitstop chezĀ Jean-Baptiste Souillard? Much as I want to pretend itā€™s still summer, summer it ainā€™t, so deeper reds and textured whites are where itā€™s at, and there arenā€™t many places that do that better than the Rhone. Itā€™s a Northern Rhone winter, you heard it here first. Souillardā€™s signature style for the reds is dark, sumptuous fruit matched with fresh acidity, and the Roussanne is rich and ripe fruited. Embrace the suck, winter is coming, winter has come.

Thatā€™s all! Gotta go sit in a dark room and get ready for the madness that is gonna be Thursday. Pray for me!

Love u xoxo
