HEAVY HITTERS 🤩

What’s up winos,
Sick of me yet? Nah, didn’t think so.
Idk about you, but when that pay drops there’s only one thing I want to spend it on. After rent and bills and Tesco meal deals, ofc. And as ever, we’ve got you covered. Some serious bottles just dropped, get excited.
First up is new gear from Domaine Belargus, iconic Loire Chenin producer with iconic pricetags to match. Except they’ve thrown us a bone and done a little entry level bottling, the Anjou Noir, which is ideal if you want a taste of the high life on a low life budget. Proceed with caution though, once you have a sip of this you’ll be heading to checkout with a basket full of their top cuvees. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Also got their Ronceray bottling in, from vines planted on myriad soil types, so expect a lot of intrigue here. The Gaudrets is a crisp, sea-spray laden bomb, while the Bonnes Blanches showcases the more floral, herbal side of that ever-versatile Chenin grape. The Roueres is one for you bread-heads, with toasty notes enticing you in before an explosion of juicy fruit and a brooding backbone of smoked meat.
Up at the pointy end (the only place I wanna b) we’ve got the Veau, intense beyond belief, the Quarts, aka the vineyard that started the whole Quarts-de-Chaume appellation (iconic) and the Treilles, a vineyard that the domaine rescued from abandon by some people too lazy to farm the steep slopes. A bit of hard work never hurt anyone! Thank f they saved it, otherwise we’d never know the breadth of minerality on show here. And what a shame that would be.
Back in Burgundy, new arrivals in from Paul Pillot, whose Bourgogne Blanc would put many an appellated bottling to shame. The Saint-Aubin is a rich, plump butterball, and the Chassagne is showing a floral, petrol laden thing more often found in Alsatian Riesling, but balanced with Burgundian power. Proper bottles that have a good life ahead of them, if you can wait that long. Rheinhessen royalty Keller is also back on the shelves and ready to go straight into your cart.
Also got a juicy restock of Suertes del Marques, Tenerife trailblazers (had enough of my alliteration yet?) who know a thing or two about volcanic soils. Hit the Trenzado for a taster of what’s to come, then throw the whole kitchen sink at it and try the Vidonia and the VP. They’ll blow your socks off. I promise.
Lastly, if you’ve had enough of wine (can’t relate) we’ve also branched out of late into the spirit world (not that one) and Aussie legends Four Pillars will be with us next Wednesday pouring a cacophony of cocktails (lol sorry I’ll stop) ideal for that summer sun we’re all roasting to death under. C u there.
That’s all from me! Love u!
xoxo
