Weingut Keller, Spätburgunder Réserve 2023
Place: Rheinhessen, Germany
Grape: Pinot Noir
Vibe: Very Nice, Classic
Been on a bit of Spätburgunder crusade atm. I really think Germany might be the most exciting Pinot producing country on the planet right now. Sorry France! Lots of great new producers coming up but Keller is the OG. This starts all smoky and really needs a bit of a decant to get going. When it does, things are off the charts. Plummy, ripe and crunchy. Things then go all savoury, damp and earthen. Even more umami nuances revealing themselves sip after sip with time in the glass. Very much at the pinnacle of wine. Fair play, Peter-Klaus. You can really do it all. ABV: 13%
