Vinas Mora, Kaamen I 2021
Place: Croatia
Grape: Babić
Vibe: Light but structured
Went to a tasting recently where everything was at least 5 years old. Yes, the Burgundy and Jura was good, but these Croatian numbers stood out the most. Babić is a new one for me. Inherently high acid, and whilst traditionally used to make things heavier, this is the grape in its lightest and brightest. Flavour profile is in the dark berry camp, but the wild ones, the ones you'd pick when barely ripe. Crunchy and a bit Pinot-like with its tea-like spice. This has mellowed out beautifully and is in a very nice place. Take a punt. You won't be disappointed. A light chill might be nice. ABV: 13%
