Sylvain Pataille, Marsannay 'L'Ancestrale' 2019
Place: Burgundy, France
Grape: Pinot Noir
Vibe: Sheesh!
Pataille's GC, with fruit sourced from 1940s plantings in his best sites (Clos du Roy, Clémengeots, etc). 100% whole bunch, and a decent stint in barrel before bottling. Geez, this is the one. I had a bottle on the weekend, it lasted all of 30 minutes. Stinks like primo Burgs, all luscious fruit and forest floor. A dream in the mouth too, perfectly integrated tannins and more than enough freshness. Amazing now, but will be life changing with a short rest. ABV: 13%
