Sandhi was founded in 2010 by Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorman, with the goal of highlighting selected vineyards from the Sta Rita Hills area of Santa Barbara County. Each vineyard was painstakingly analysed for personality and balance before making it onto their list, to make sure the wines coming out of the project are elegant and mineral, but with a strong, structured backbone. The wines undergo wild fermentation and malolactic conversion, and have no additions beyond a modest dose of sulphur. New oak is used sparingly (thank god). These wines are fast becoming the benchmark Pinots and Charodnnays for the region.
