Eben Sadie is rightly considered one of the greatest visionaries in South African winemaking, and pretty much put the Swartland on the map as an area with the potential to make cracking wines. The highly coveted wines are based on traditional Rhône varieties, made from his selection of old bush vines and unique terroirs, which he is constantly adding to. Like all the best in the biz, he’s out to create a snapshot of the region and of the specific sites within it. The grapes are scrupulously sorted to ensure only the best make it to bottle and then vinified separately by parcel, and work in the vineyard is meticulous. A lot of work, basically, but worth it!
