Based in Chorey-lès-Beaune, Seiichi Saito has run his project Petit-Roy since 2017. He first got into wine through studying in Beaune back in 2006, before going on to work with some serious names, Mugnier, Leflaive and Rousseau among them, and landing a long stint at Simon Bize.

Today Domaine Petit-Roy covers 2.1ha of regional appellation vines, which Seiichi farms biodynamically himself, plus a small amount of bought-in fruit from like-minded growers around Beaune. In the cellar he favours whole cluster fermentations and gentle cap management, keeping extraction light to preserve verticality and brightness across the range. No new oak, ever. The wines are ripe and subtle but full of drinkability. Incredibly reliable and always overdelivering. A must taste for fans of Burgundy.
