Jules Metras, Chiroubles 'La Montagne'

Love Chiroubles, love the Metras fam, love Beaujolais in 2023. This quite literally ticks all the boxes. Jules is now bottling under his own name, and this cuvée comes from an older vine parcel in one of my favourite crus, closer to the “green” side of Beaujolais. This cooler pocket of the region is so steep they have to use a cable-powered plough. Tough. Anyway, the word ethereal comes to mind when drinking this. Clearly, something very special runs in the family blood. ABV: 13%
