Menina d'Uva, Ciste Rosé 2024
Place: Trás-os-Montes, Portugal
Grape: Tinta Gorda + Local Varieties
Vibe: Light and bright
From the same parcel as her maceration, just this time a local grape, Tinta Gorda, with a dash of the other varieties. Again, simple winemaking where things are gently foot-trodden to extract a bit of colour and phenolics. Wonderfully red fruited, all cranberries and redcurrant, with this lovely herbal quality woven throughout. A soft, almost waxy texture too, as here she experimented with ageing in old barrel. Technically a rosé, but to me this drinks like a light red of the highest order.
