Originally from different parts of France, Margot Rousseau-Petit and Natalia Santo both had careers in film and events before making their way to Anjou in 2015. Realizing they needed more hands-on experience, Margot ditched her oenology studies and instead learned under the mentorship of Thomas Batardière. Now, I usually think it’s a bit lazy to compare winemakers to where they’ve worked, but in this case, Thomas played a big role in shaping their journey—he even trusted Margot with a small plot of Grolleau and Gamay. Natalia joined a few years later, and they made their first wine in 2017. Since then, they've never looked back. They now work 5 hectares, focusing on classic Loire varieties. Their winemaking style is driven by intuition, instinct, and emotion. Navigating challenging vintages with ease, these are some of the most soulful wines I’ve had recently. Excitingly, they’re about to move to a larger, more comfortable farm just five minutes from Champ-sur-Layon, which is a huge step forward for their growing domaine that continues to impress with each passing year!
