Matteo is only 28 years old, but was one of the standout discoveries when tasting through the hectic number of wines during the yearly Salons in the Loire. He did his BTS in the Jura before heading back south to work in the skilled cellar and beautifully tended vineyards of Les Frères Souiler. He is slowly acquiring small plots around the Gard, and a very experimental vigneron. His production is tiny, yet he likes to make a lot of wine. Often just a barrel or two. Nothing is added, nothing is removed. Cellar work is completely manual, solely by gravity. Wines are aged in barrels of a certain age to allow micro-oxygenation to do its work. Few discoveries have left me as excited as these wines. Alive and addictive. Sadly, just pathetic amounts here in the UK, so you'll need to be quick to secure your stash.
