Maison Valette, Mâcon-Chaintré Vieilles Vignes NV
Place: Burgundy, France
Grape: Chardonnay
Vibe: Natural, buttery
a NV bottling to combat the increasingly difficult vintages that have been thrown Burgundys way in recent years. Arguably, my favourite release to date too. There is plenty of cut and thrust here, but we're still in Valette's safe hands so you can expect a textural dream. Full-ish, with a tonne of buttery-influenced orchard and citrus fruit character. This fella needs some air to show the full range, but jeez, it's a characterful experience. ABV: 14.5%
