Andrea and Stefano grew up between the hills of La Morra and Verduno. They're sons of one of the region's historic winemaking families, so wine was never really a choice. But rather than stay in the family business, they decided to back themselves and start something of their own.

That's how Maffrei was born. The name combines Mascarello and fratelli (brothers in Piedmontese).

2021 was year zero. No cellar of their own, just borrowed space, a few tanks, and ambition. The first harvest came in 2022, the first bottles in 2023.

Today, Maffrei is still young, but it's already one of the most exciting new names in Barolo. Andrea and Stefano work with the family's vineyards across La Morra and Verduno, with a fresh, younger perspective. The wines are insanely tasty, accesible young and refreshing. Remember the name.
