Kissinger-Bähr, Kreuz Riesling 2024
Place: Rheinhessen, Germany
Grape: Riesling
Vibe: Crispy
These new single-site wines highlight the diversity of the complex soil structures in Rheinhessen. This particular vineyard sits on calcareous limestone south of Nierstein, and to me it feels the most linear of the lineup. Taut and tense rather than textured. It may be less flamboyant and overtly fragrant, but the ice-cool palate reveals refreshing layers of wet rock and river water. My personal favourite. ABV: 12%
