Jacques Puffeney officially retired in 2014, after a remarkable 52 vintages. French law allowed him to retain a small holding where he produced the Trousseau Cuvée Berangères up until 2017 before finally calling it quits at the tender age of 72. Farming only the very best sites of Arbois, he favoured older vines which he tended by hand. Similar care was taken in the cellar where ferments use native yeasts, no additions apart from a pinch of sulphur and old foudres were chosen for both elevage and fermentation. These won’t last long.
