Originally from San Sebastián, Imanol Garay left conventional wine behind after "letting love in" and embracing a holistic approach. From his cellar in Maslacq, near Biarritz, time spent with Richard Leroy and Vincente Carême shaped his move into biodynamic farming and zero-addition winemaking.

His production spans France and Spain's Txakoli region, with a recently planted hectare in Saint Etienne de Baïgorry and bought-in fruit from Madiran, Rioja and Navarra. In the cellar, barrels, tanks and hand-crafted amphorae all come into play, with vinification led entirely by the fruit and the vintage.

Imanol's curiosity and disregard for regional expectation make for wines that are beguiling and genuinely unique. He's also a painter, a musician, and one of the most charming people you'll meet, which probably explains why his wines are so loved in the natural wine world.
