Fabio Gea, Barbersco Riserva DOCG 'Notu andava a tartufi senza il cane' 2017
Place: Piedmont, Italy
Grape: Nebbiolo
Vibe: Otherworldly
The name roughly translates to “Grandpa Went Truffle Hunting Without the Dog.” LOL. Again, from the Bricco di Neive cru, this one does fall in line with Barbaresco’s rules, with a whopping 54 months in large oak.
The nose is deep, almost heady. Spice, rose, and blood orange bitters. The palate is all about fine, resolved tannins and a finish that never seems to end. Classic but with real soul. Aged to absoloute perfection. G2G find myself a truffle dealer. ABV: 15.5%
