Founded in 1735 in the hills outside Lucca, Fabbrica di San Martino is a twenty-hectare estate but with only just 2.5 hectares of south-facing vines, surrounded by woodland and rich biodiversity.

After years running one of Lucca’s favourite trattorias, Beppe Ferrua returned to the family farm and learned by working alongside local contadini. Discovering the vineyards had never seen chemicals, he kept it that way, before later converting to biodynamics.

In a tiny cantina beside a seventeenth-century villa, olive trees and roaming animals, Beppe makes honest, old-fashioned wines with real soul. Wines that feel entirely at home on a Tuscan table. Old school Italian at it's very finest.
