Etienne Bodet, Clarum 2024
Place: Loire, France
Grape: Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Grolleau
Vibe: Classic
A cooler site, late ripening, and with more clay-based soil. He wanted to create something a little fresher, a nod to the past traditions when clairret was the dominant style in Montreuil-Bellay. The label even shows his family on this site way back in 1947! Bit of history right there. Heavily inspired by Pataille's famous rose, this could equally be a Light red or Rose. You’re call really but depth of flavour is no issue here. Juicy fruit, a little herbal and a wickedly mineral core. ABV: 12%
