Ben Adams: Enmill Field, Pinot 2024
Place: England
Grape: 60% Pinot Meunier + 40% Pinot Noir
Vibe: Fresh
An 8-day whole bunch maceration, then pressed into old 228L and 400L barrels. Exceptional fruit, beautifully handled with no additions and bottled by gravity. Ethereal and crunchy, this has to be one of the most precise English reds I've tasted. Still baby vines, but they bring such youthful vigour!
In wine, we tend to fetishise the complexity of old vines, but there's something to be said for the raw energy of a young crop. Outrageously well-priced considering the exceptional farming here in the UK right through to the delightful liquid in the glass. ABV: 10%.
