Lucie and Lucien (cute!!) Peyraud were not only responsible for some of the most top tier wines in Bandol AOC, they played an instrumental role in creating the AOC in the first place. The couple worked tirelessly to get Bandol on the map (if you will) while developing their own range of wines. They produced their first rosé in 1943, and started producing reds in 1951. The 1960s saw the introduction of their single vineyard reds: La Tourtine, La Migoua and Cabassaou. These days, Bandol wines’ potential for ageing is recognised as up there with Bordeaux and Burgundy. Some legacy! Lucien and Lucie’s children and grandchildren form part of the Board of Directors for the estate, which is now undergoing biodynamic certification.
