Domaine Durrmann, Grand Cru Wiebelsberg 2021
Place: Alsace, France
Grape: Riesling
Vibe: Natural
Yann makes Alsatian Grand Cru that actually tastes like one, wish I could say the same for all the 50+ GCs of the region. From the slopes of Wiebelsberg, close to the Crax hill and the edge of Kastelberg. The soil here is sandstone and schist. On release, this was so nervy and tense, but after 5 years things are slowly softening. The acidity is still racy and refreshing, lots of lime bitters and again an almost endless finish. A food wine, that would perfectly cut through the rich, local fare. A steal considering both the age and the quality. ABV:12.5%
