Domaine Denis Bachelet is miniscule in Burgundy terms, with only four hectares, and it's run almost single-handedly by its namesake. Born in Belgium (after his Burgundian father fell in love there on a school trip) he'd regularly go home to Gevrey Chambertin to visit his grandparents, and that's where he fell in love with the vigneron lifestyle. He began his winemaking career in 1981, and his philosophy is 'finesse before anything else', an approach he carries from the vineyards to the cellar, to every aspect of his winemaking.
