Andrea Ugolotti spent years working as a high level sommelier before catching the winemaking bug, learning his craft alongside two serious names in Franco Soldera and Marino Colleoni. Armed with that experience, he and his partner Daniela Trolio eventually settled in the Abruzzo hinterland to set up Colle Florido.

Their 3.5 hectares sit on smooth hills around the peaceful village of Pianella, where the Adriatic and the Apennines between them lend a beautiful freshness to the grapes while the warm sun does the rest. Clay and limestone soils, vines between six and forty years old, with wild mint, dandelion, barley, and wild carrots growing freely between the rows. Biodiversity taken seriously, low yields, and minimum inputs throughout.

The cantina is simply the home garage. A narrow space housing a couple of wooden vats and some old barriques. No fancy tech but high grade wines with energy and soul in abundance.
