Marie-Pierre is the young vigneronne behind the wines of Chevassu and despite her young age the wines are all made in the old traditional style. Taking the reins of her family estate in 2008, she manages just 4.5 hectares of vines and oversees the cellar door single-handedly. Based in Château-Chalon, the most traditional part of the Jura, Marie-Pierre makes both oxidative whites and crunchy reds. The reds are gently handled and see no oak; she prefers to use tanks filled with CO2 leading to wines with a touch of spritz on opening. The whites however are matured in old barrels using traditional Jura techniques for more savoury, nutty expressions.
