Hailing from Nuits-Saint-Georges, it wasn’t until the age of 35 that Arnaud decided to throw himself into vineyard work. However, things moved fairly quickly since then when he joined the storied Prieuré Roch estate in 2007. A decade spent tending to its prized parcels gave him more than just technical skill, it sharpened his philosophy. In 2018, Arnaud launched his own project, sourcing organic fruit from growers who shared his ethos, and bottling his first micro-cuvées in tiny quantities. With each passing vintage the wines continue to hum with energy and intent. These are very much intense, alive, and unmistakably his. Lopez is a purist, through and through. All fruit is organically grown, and more often than not, it’s Arnaud himself out there in the vines despite being technically ‘negoce’. In the cellar, he works with whole clusters, favors long macerations, and keeps intervention to a minimum. Everything is aged exclusively in old pièces bourguignonnes. The wines, whilst delicious in their youth, reward both patience and curiosity!
