Domaine des Notes Bleues
Cédric Mottet is that rare Jura breed who didn't come from a family of vignerons, but he started young anyway, working for various producers in the region alongside studying music. He initially aspired to be a professional musician, but when that didn't pan out, he returned to his native Arbois to pursue winemaking instead. He worked at Domaine du Pélican, Domaine de la Touraize, and Domaine de la Renardière before striking out on his own in 2017, purchasing a plot from none other than Stéphane Tissot. The following year he purchased a further three hectares around Arbois and Mesnay, and in 2019 he planted a plot of Savagnin in Les Sarres. The last addition came in 2021, bringing his total holdings to 6.5 hectares. The wines are all site-specific and the vines are organically farmed, and, as long as conditions allow, the reds are bottled young with 8-10 months in stainless steel and the whites after two years in old oak. Cédric's wines combine a respect for the Jura winemaking of old with a streak of innovation that looks to the future.
