Feelin' Frisky

by Fionn Reidy

G’day,

Twice in one week, this is the good old days.

I’ve been living that warehouse wine wet dream all week, with Fionn off in the Loire rubbing shoulders with the folk at Clos Rougeard et al. When people look at working in wine as a romantic thing they are sometimes correct. Sometimes.

One man’s week of packing boxes is another’s utopia, as they say, with a plethora of nice things to sip on passing through our gates atm. Here we go!

A big re-stock from Anais Fanti because they went gangbusters and everyone wanted more. Public Service.

Fresh from the world of oyster brine Chardonnay come a swarm of 23’s from Patrick Piuze - great winemaker and really hectic but good hectic dude if the CCTV from the party we hosted at Ken’s is anything to go by - and some maturing gear from the iconic Laurent Tribut.

One of our quattro mixed pallets from Italy contained the life affirming wines of Ceppaiolo. One of my favourite visits last year, sitting around a plastic table in a shed eating mortadella on torn bread whilst sampling fine wares and polishing up my year 3 Italian. I’m going there to make wine this September, so probably an idea to drink these before I make a few errors…

To conclude on the immediate liquid front there’s a few bottles from the stable of Giuseppe Rinaldi currently making me feel nervous. Sometimes we receive wines from producers I had previously only dreamt of working with, this being one. Usually they’ll be sitting on restaurant lists around the land, making somms cry and punters swoon. You could do both.

And in the world of events, Wine School is back next week, and there are only two seats left. Be the learned one in your group. And 2 seats left at the Rizza Tasting a couple of weeks later. This’ll be a night of enamel stripping goodness.

xoxo
