Marco Turco Supernova 2023

Ciao Bella: New-Wave Veneto, Labet and Spring Events

by Fionn

Italy in spring, a bit of Labet, and a calendar full of reasons to get out and drink something delicious. Hard to argue with that.

This was exactly the sort of newsletter we love writing: loads of energy, bottles we were genuinely excited about, and just enough event chaos to keep things interesting.

Marco Turco Gets Things Going

We framed this one around the joy of Italian wine when the weather finally starts behaving. Sunshine, grills, long weekends, all that. First up was Marco Turco, whose wines absolutely fit the brief.

The sunny, smoky Col Fondo is a total no-brainer, the textured still Bianco has loads of personality, and Lucifer is every bit as juicy and weirdly compelling as the label suggests.

Faedesfa Bring The Fun

The second half of the Veneto spotlight went to Faedesfa and Alberto Buratti. Uma is an aperitif dream. Franko is juicy, carbonic and instantly likable. Then there is that wonderfully odd blend of Riesling and Pinot Noir, plus a Sauvignon Blanc that made us go from mildly curious to fully evangelical very quickly.

We also gave a little nod to Labet, because if you're into Jura and haven't paid attention yet, now would be a great time.

A Few Dates For The Diary

The email wrapped with a last-minute seat at Curro Barreno's event, a teaser for the upcoming Bianka Schmitt tasting, and one final nudge toward the tarot-and-wine night here. A nicely chaotic spring calendar, just how we like it.

Shop The Drop

Bright, playful, and very ready for the season. Exactly the sort of drop we want to be drinking right now.
