WINE YOURSELF šŸ™

by Megan Jones

Whatā€™s up winos,

Iā€™m back from New York and missing it already, even with its charming 32-degree-Celsius (300 degrees Fahrenheit? Idk) heat. But Iā€™m not one to dwell. Much. Letā€™s move on.

Had our EnvĆnate (English: wine yourself) tasting on Tuesday and it was a banger. If you came and forgot to order your wines after the fact, Iā€™ve got you. If you didnā€™t manage to snag a ticket and are regretting your life decisions, Iā€™ve got you. Hereā€™s what Iā€™ve got.

La Santa de UrsulaĀ is a combo platter of ListĆ”n Negro, Negramoll and ListĆ”n Blanco, which, if youā€™re not a Tenerife wine-head are probably just a series of Spanish sounds to you, but they represent something special. Super old (likeĀ oldĀ old) vines produced a wine with tonnes of depth and interest. Word of the day is ENERGY.

Moving over to Galicia,Ā Lousas ā€˜Doadā€™Ā is a single-varietal MencĆa, but itā€™s a blend in every other way ā€“ blend of sites, blend of years, blend of soils. A realĀ mezcla, as the Spaniards say. Just ask the producers how good my Spanish is (donā€™t ask them that). This is all nervy red fruit, shredded by a nice little acid backbone. How do you say ā€˜woofā€™ in Spanish?

Last up isĀ Albahra, probably the most accessible of EnvĆnateā€™s wines, though thatā€™s not to say itā€™s simple ā€“ thereā€™s plenty going on here to keep you interested, from the floral aromas to the spicy, mineral palate. This oneā€™s great with a little chill on it, aka the only sane way to consume red wine in this weather. Or whatĀ wasĀ this weather a couple weeks ago and which is hopefully going to return shortly.

Final point on my agenda ā€“ there are only sixĀ tickets left for our British pĆ©t nat tasting on the 1stĀ of August.Ā Do the right thingĀ (and do it fast, there are a lot of people on this mailing listā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦)

Love u!

Megan
