NICE THINGS I'VE DRUNK šŸ§ƒ

by Fionn Reidy

Heyy, I wish it was Thursday but alas itā€™s just me (Fionn) coming to your inbox a little earlier this weekā€¦

This weekend, I was stranded without wine. The lack of vinous entertainment got me reminiscing about what a whirlwind few months itā€™s been. It feels like only yesterday we were still trading under ā€˜Natty Boyā€™ but since adopting Parched things have gone from strength to strength. Pallets of wines have been and gone. Our imports are coming thick and fast. LC selections is up and running. Danā€™s has expanded. The offering online has evolved. Weā€™ve been busy.

But still, at the very core, not much has changed. At Parched weā€™re still supplying the finest natural gear but now flexing our muscles with wines that are also very much fine. Weā€™re not dogmatic. The aim of the game still is and always will be getting good wine, to good people, in a very good (quick) amount of time.

So this week thought Iā€™d shine a light on some grapes/bottles/producers/regions/things that Iā€™ve loved over the past few months!

Recently, itā€™s all been about Chenin. Sadly our Leroy allocation hasnā€™t stretched this far but weā€™re not far off with this from Batardiere. From the same site, just half the price. Considering this is somewhat affordable and actually available in relative quantities, Iā€™d give this a go before in a few years that simply wonā€™t be possible.

On the topic of Chenin, La Lune from the esteemed Mark Angeli still makes me marvel. A true legend, the first to do away with the stupid appellations in Anjou in favour of producing dry wine. Thank god he did as Vin de France has never tasted so good. Iā€™ll make it a hat trick with the latest vintage of Arena from Mosse. The schist soils of SavenniĆØres really bring out a stony, savoury thing that Iā€™ve been swooned by year after year.

Gamay has also been big this year. Beaujolais still pumping out serious VALUE. The whole Descombes lineup deserves serious love. Juicy young vine stuff, older vines destined for aging. All that for under Ā£30 quid. Damn.

Dufatire too with their effortless drink-ability. These are everywhere in Paris and for good reason. They glide, they make you smile, and the bottle never lasts long. My mates who arenā€™t into wine love these. My mates who are into wine love these. Everyone loves these.

Valma and Girard also show that despite being the birthplace of natural wine there is still plenty of new talent pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved when things are done right in these parts! Long live Beaujolais.

Iā€™ve also been away a lot! Highlights include visiting Tscheppe and Muster over in Styria. These wines are insanely good. Iā€™m genuinely shocked we still have some left. If you havenā€™t tasted these I urge you to give them a spin.

I also visited Burgundy for the first time, and am still recovering financially. Vin Noe being a standout. Aligote, Chardy, Pinot. He doesnā€™t miss. Obligatory mention to Dandelionā€™s Pet-Nat as this is my most consumed bottle so far this year. I also drank my first Roulot. Hopefully, but probably could be my very last. I can safely say this was hands down the best/finest wine Iā€™ve ever drunk. You can now be like me if you simply click here.

Wowā€¦ I really could go on, but sadly a big old delivery has just come rolling through the doors. Anyway, what a year itā€™s been so far, I canā€™t wait for what the next few months bring!

All this wouldnā€™t be possible without you lovely lot. Thanks for having exceptional taste and staying hyrdated, couldnā€™t do it without youuu šŸ’–
