ITALIAN STALLIONS š

Whatās up winos,
Back and reporting for duty after what felt like years stuck in bed wasting away like some kind of Victorian orphan. Anyone else get thatĀ thingĀ going around? Itās gnarly. Wash your hands, Iām telling you. You do not want to catch it. A week in bed also meant a week away from booze, and while Iām sure that made my liver happy, my head and heart not so much. Happy to be back in the warehouse and back on the sauce.
So many mint arrivals have been rocking up in the last few weeks that Iāve barely had a chance to tell yāall about that massive Italian delivery we had a little while ago. Now Iāve finally got my breath back (although I still canāt breathe in too deeply or Iāll cough up a lung, hehe), Iām free to tell you all aboutĀ Tiberi.
You might recognise these guys - we used to stock them a few years ago before their importer sadly went out of business. But before they did, they were kind enough to pass on their little black book of contacts, and thus: Tiberi is back on our shores and on our shelves. Fantastico, as the Italians say.
Tiberi is a fourth-gen winery based in Umbria, with four hectares and a focus on local varieties:Ā Gamay del Trasimeno, Ciliegiolo, Grechetto, Trebbiano and San Colombana. Most of those were new to me, idk about u. They stopped the additives game in 2015, and also expanded their reach beyond their own neighbourhood, who used to be the only people who got to enjoy these wines. What I really love about Tiberi is their way of combining the old and the new - the wines are modern and fun, but still maintain an edge of classic rusticity that make them so distinctly Umbrian. Know what else I like about them? Their price tag <3
Their two pet nats are the ideal way to kick off an evening, or even to drink of an afternoon in the sun, which is increasingly something thatās possible now we amble drunkenly towards spring. TheĀ TribulatoĀ is crisp and refreshing, while theĀ MusticcoĀ is a red-berried juice bomb. The summeryĀ lāBiancoĀ is full of juicy tropical fruit, with a smattering of herbs and a lipsmacking salty finish, while theĀ Torre BiancoĀ is beautifully textured thanks to two daysā skin contact. TheĀ PistarelloĀ is a lovely easy-drinking skin contact thatās full of intrigue - mango fruit and orange blossom florals combine with a herbal edge thatāll keep you guessing all the way to the end of the bottle. If chilled reds are your bag, try theĀ lāRossoĀ - lithe, light and fresh, with juicy cherries and a cooling hit of menthol. Rounding things out is theĀ Torre RossoĀ - the most traditionally Umbrian of the lot, with ripe red fruit and a lovely herbaceous note keeping everything fresh and lean.
Enjoy winos!!
xoxo
