ICONS APLENTY💅

What’s up winos,

Good weekend? Bet it wasn’t as good as mine. I had a little knees-up in anticipation of turning [redacted] years old today. There was a lot of love in the room, and more importantly, a lot of wine. There was also a Colin the caterpillar cake, which if you can believe I’ve never had before. Nothing like turning [I said redacted, stop asking me] years old for reliving the childhood you were deprived of. New wine pairing just dropped, Versante Nord x chocolate cake. You heard it here first.

As an extra special birthday treat, I spent yesterday unloading a mammoth arrival of France’s finest. And guess who gets to benefit from all this back breaking labour. That’s right. YOU.

First up, new vintages from Bonnezeaux. Thanks to yet another archaic technicality, these stunning Chenins are bottled as VdF, which is good news for your bank account.  The vines were abandoned in the 80s but brought back to life in 2012, and wow, what a life they’ve been given. Rich, ripe, mineral driven Chenins that ‘intensity’ doesn’t even begin to describe. These are wines that’ll stick in your memory long after you’ve recycled the bottle. You are recycling your bottles, aren’t you? Good. I thought so.

New in also from Marc Colin. It’s been too long, Marc! In my esteemed opinion (and it is widely considered to be esteemed) the man can do no wrong. Whether you’re someone with willpower and a cellar or whether you’re someone who shares a fridge with eight housemates and has no patience, Marc’s got something for you. Salinity and tension define the house style. Pick your poison here.

ICYMI, we dropped a little Prevost-shaped bomb on Friday, and by some miracle (or being shadowbanned on Instagram for being too cool, idk) there are still plenty kicking around. Regret is not a word I’d associate with picking up any of these.

A big welcome back also to some of the Marnes Blanches cuvees we’ve gone far too long without, the tropical acid bomb that is the Quatre Vis and the mouthwateringly (definitely a word) saline En Levrette. Oh, u like red? Worry not. Pinot and Poulsard are here 4 u.

In slightly more wallet friendly news, we’ve got a plethora of tastings from our very own imports lined up for next year (I KNOW, where does the time go?) so get ahead of the game and get around them. In Feb we’ll be welcoming Jef and Saïda from Domaine de l’Iserand, aka producers of cracking bottles from the Rhone. We’re talking warming reds, textured whites, and a cute juicy pet nat, coz why not? Jef’s a reet legend so it should be a stunner of an evening. No less stunning will be our visit from Domaine Gross, one for the orange wine aficionados. Producer of classic cremants and mind bending skin contact bottlings, Vincent will be with us in March, and I expect to see you all reporting for duty. Okay? Okay.

Enough from me, I have a pile of presents to open. Did I mention I’m turning [REDACTED] today?

Love u!

xoxo
