*Taps mic* Is this thing on?

What’s the craic, winos. Not Fionn on this balmy Tuesday, nor Dan, but a secret third thing (person? Parched minion?). Hannah here – hello, nice to meet you, etc. I know change is scary, but this is good change, hopefully. In fact, it’s not really change at all – it’s extra! More content! More wine! And, more specifically, more events!

Because here at Dan’s, we live to serve. To entertain. If the customer is king/queen, consider us somewhere between your cupbearer and court jester (only better dressed. Usually).

Have I lost you? Hopefully not. But to bring things back to the present day, the summer calendar at Dalston’s finest watering hole is shaping up to be a big one. Hotter, boozier and with more bangers than an illegal barbeque on London Fields.

Kicking off the summer season, the lovely people up the road at SALT Salon are opening their doors for the first SALT Sessions of the year this Saturday 24th. Turns out they’re not only really good at giving me haircuts (thnx guys), but they also have great taste in wine, because they’re letting Dan’s take over the bar for the night. Easy skinsy + tunes + a big ol’ rooftop party? And it’s free? You’d be daft not to. RSVP at info@salthackney.com. Bosh.

Then on June 3rd, we’re giving it la dolce vita with none other than Tenuta di Carleone taking up residency in Cave de Dan’s for a night of some of the finest Sangiovese coming out of Chianti rn. We’ll be joined by Sean O'Callaghan, the estate’s Somerset-born Italian transplant, who’s racked up 25 years' experience working in the Chianti region. As well as a boatload of winemaking experience and knowledge, Sean brings a commitment to organic and biodynamic farming practices to the estate, emphasising minimal intervention in the cellar. All words we like to hear, making for wines we like to drink. Get involved.

No rest for the wicked here, because on June 4th, we’re back at it with none other than our own Paralian Wines, all the way from the Vale in South Aus. Paralian is the lovechild of Skye Salter and Charlie Seppelt, two Australian winemaking legends who between them have amassed over 50 vintages around the world. The goal of Paralian is to shine a light on distinguished sites throughout McLaren Vale. The winemaking is traditional and gentle, and the wines bright and modern in style, resulting in proper top tier Aussie plonk. Did I mention it’s only 25 of your great british pounds as well? Recession who??

Anyway, enough wine chat. Let’s talk about me. I’ve just turned 30, which has left me pondering over some of life’s big questions. Things like “would it really be that irresponsible of me if I got a cat?”, or “why do my tomato plants keep dying even though I water them sometimes?”. Real chin scratchers, I know. If only I had some kind of guidance. Someone to give me the answers I so desperately crave.

Oh, hang on – Dan’s, is that you? Coming to save me in times of crisis, once again? Via the medium of wine and tarot, together under one roof? You betcha. On June 10th, we’ll be joined by Megan Jessica, one of London’s most booked tarot readers, for a night of wine and spirits (heh). As well as receiving a 10 minute personalised reading from Megan, we’ll be pouring four of our favourite biodynamic wines, and of course there will be some tasty snacks to boot. This one sold out in record time, but maybe, if you ask nicely, we might release tickets for a second night – u in?

Christ, I’m a bit out of breath from all that excitement. Time to go and have a big lie down on the couch in Dan’s 2.0. Aaand time to get back up again because there are thirsty customers who need wine.

Catch you on the other side of the bar!

Hannah xoxo
