Bertrand Gautherot is arguably the reason that the Aube region, in the southeast corner of Champagne, is considered to produce some of the area’s most exciting champagnes. He began tending vines there in 1986, but didn’t release his first vintage until 2001. The domaine has been certified biodynamic since 1998, and is named after its two principal vineyards – Vouette, on Kimmeridgian soil, and Sorbée, on Portlandian soil. His champagnes are true expressions of place, and are vibrant and alive.
