S.C. Pannell was established in 2004 in McLaren Vale by couple Stephen and Fiona. Although cognizant and respectful of the styles typical of the region, Stephen, influenced by his time working at some of the leading estates in Bordeaux, Burgundy, Barolo and Priorat, believed the Mediterranean climate had the potential to grow other grapes too – so he threw the whole kitchen sink at it, growing Grenache, Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, Aglianico, Nero d’Avola and Fiano, among others.
