Philippe Chatillon, Savagnin 'Amphore' 2020
Place: Jura, France
Grape: Savagnin
Vibe: Natural, textural
Is it orange or is it white? More importantly, who cares? The Savagnin is harvested late when it's super ripe, then spends five months macerating in amphora and stays there for another seven after pressing, where it's kept company by the sounds of singing bowls and a crystal harp. Yes, really. Mandarin and sweet spice hit you first, followed by a rounded, mineral palate. Intensity is a word that comes to mind. ABV: 13%
