Vibe: Natural, tart

At the pointy end of Umbrian wine there is only one name. Pipparello is mostly Sangiovese, with some Montepulciano and Sagrantino folded through for supreme balance. An immense thing, you know it's there, and yet you want more and more. There's a tartness to the red fruit that cuts up the boldness of the darker stuff. Beautiful. ABV: 14.5%
