The legends that are Ochota Barrels started their wine journey at the end of another journey – on a surf trip, to be exact, after a round-the-world trek around some of the world’s most incredible surf and wine destinations. What a life! Something about the Mexican coastline inspired them to head back to South Australia and start making wine. Thank God! They started off with Syrah in Barossa Valley and Grenache in McLaren Vale, making small batch, single vineyard wines, and soon branched out into some interesting plots in Adelaide Hills. They take a hands-off approach, using indigenous yeasts and picking early to maintain the grapes’ natural acidity.
