Massa Vecchia is based in the north of Maremma in Tuscany, and was founded in 1985 by Fabrizio Niccolaini and his wife Patrizia Bartolini. They have 6 hectares, 3.6 of which are vines, with 1.5 of olive trees and the remainder of cereals. The philosophy at the winery has always been working with nature - seeing humans as guardians of the land rather than owners.
