Luke Lambert started his vigneron life virtually – purchasing grapes from high quality growers in Heathcote and the Yarra Valley – before settling in the Yarra Valley himself, leasing small plots of Nebbiolo and Shiraz. The grapes are hand-picked, fermented with wild yeasts, and the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. All Luke’s cuvées are single vineyard, incredibly perfumed and full of vibrant acidity. He believes a wine should be dictated by place, and carefully manages his vineyards – in rather poor, rocky and steep areas of the valley – to achieve this.
