Angiolino Maule was one of the first in Italy to adopt a natural approach to winemaking. At the end of a solid career in the restaurant biz, he bought a couple of hectares in the Gambellara hills in the Veneto, known for its volcanic soils. After his first vintage in 1988, he decided to go against the grain and embrace organic principles, with some biodynamics thrown in there too. He was one of the founding members of Vinnatur, the world's largest natural wine association, and stands alongside Radikon and Gravner as one of the fathers of natural wine. We owe you one, Angiolino!
