Domaine de Ferrand is situated in the cooler, northern part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Philippe Bravay took the reins at the domaine owned by his family since the 19th century, moving away from the practice of selling to négociants and instead bottling his own wine from 1997. The estate owns some of the oldest Grenache vines in the appellation, some of which were planted as far back as 1904. Philippe brings a thoughtfulness to his vineyards; although not certified, his practices are organic. He’s also kind enough to produce two cracking Côtes-du-Rhônes at a nice friendly price point.
