Nestled at the foothills of the Pyrenees, this is one France's oldest wine-growing regions. In recent years it's taken a back seat but thankfully since the late 1980s, some producers have begun revitalising local grape varieties. The resulting wines are delightful and profound, wines that harken back to the region's past glory. Château Lafitte is firmly leading the way in this new found resurgence. Antoine, a former Parisian photographer, took the reigns from his father back in 2012 .Since then, organic and biodynamic practices (Demeter certified) have become part of the estates new identity. A minimalist intervention approach is taken in the cellar. The resulting wines are pulsating, full of life with freshness rarely found this far south.
