Conestabile della Staffa

Conestabile della Staffa has been making the good stuff since the 1700s. Once celebrated for producing some of the finest wines in the region, two world wars disrupted their legacy, forcing the estate to halt production in the mid-20th century. Fast forward to the 2000s, and thankfully along came Danillo Marcucci. With experience working with Italy’s top names like Maga, Valentini, Cappellano, and Vittorio Mattioli, Danillo brought his bountiful expertise and passion for honest wines to the estate. He lovingly restored the 12 hectares of vines, and in 2015, after more than 60 years, the estate released its first vintage. What's better? The vines have never seen any chemicals. Just like in the days of old, the wines are made using traditional methods: native grapes, natural fermentation, wild yeast, no temperature control, and zero added sulphur. It’s a truly inspiring project with a bright future ahead. Bargains to be had.
