What’s up winos,

Two emails from me in one week? What did you ever do to deserve such good fortune?

After two straight years of saying things like ‘getting sick is for Victorian children’ and ‘#built different’, Fionn has finally succumbed to illness. Karma? Who’s to say. So you’re stuck with me again today, but luckily, I’ve got great news to impart.

If you’re not on Instagram (good 4 u!), you might have missed our juicy, juicy FRM drop yesterday. There’s still a good chunk of it online, you lucky lucky ducks, so go have a gander right now. There’s new vintages of many of our old favourites, plus a couple of new bottlings for us - La Chaux, a rich, tropical fruited, salted buttered bomb that’s always kept in check by FRM’s signature eyepopping acid line, and the macerated Savagnin Ephemere. I’m not usually a huuuuge fan of macerated Jura (the Jura is so good at what it does! If it ain’t broke!) but this bottle could be the one to change my mind. Red fruit to the fore, with strawberries, redcurrants and a smack of grenadine meeting fresh almonds and pears, if you give it long enough. A proper ponderous bottle, worth taking your time over. If you can.

We were also graced with the magical presence of Isabella Perego from Ar Pe Pe on Monday, and it was such an enormous treat. Particularly because she left us with approx 15 half full bottles that she’d been showing around town that day. Sometimes I really have to pinch myself in this job. If you’re jealous coz you weren’t there, dw - we’ve got plenty online so you can live vicariously. From the seductive entry level Rosso di Valtellina to the meaty, herbal Rocca de Piro, the fresh, complex Pettirosso to the immense, sweet-fruited, leathery, balsamic-y Ultimi Raggi (with nine years of age, you’re welcome), there’s no better time to get into this producer if you haven’t already. Unparalleled alpine Nebbiolo.

And if you’ve got serious FOMO, make sure you don’t miss our next tasting - biodynamic pioneers and producers of bargain, delicious natty wines Heinrich will be with us in a few short weeks. Get your ticks here. Wine 4 Dummies also kicked off this week to rave reviews, and you can still get involved.

Short one this week, partly coz with Fionn down it’s just lil old me playing warehouse gremlin today and there’s much to do, and partly coz I think you’ve all had enough of the sound (? is it sound if it’s written down? A deep question to ponder over that bottle of FRM) of my voice for one week.

Love u!

xoxo
